Yes, you can be a part of history and help fight blood cancers! Mike Sheehy is scheduling people to run with him on the 13 miles course that he'll run repeatedly for 6 of the days of his world record attempt. And you can be a part of this history making event. Here's how: 1) Go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society donation site and make a donation of at least $5 per mile that you'd like to run along with Mike. 2) Consult the schedule below and pick a date & time that you'd like to run with Mike. 3) Send an email to
gwr7day@valicom.com with: 4) Review the important information about participating. 5) Show up 30 minutes before your scheduled time at your start location with your running shoes or bike, and get ready to make history! Schedule for running with Mike Sheehy
Important Information for Participants Please note that you must be able to maintain at least a 9 minute mile pace to be able to run with Mike. That's about 7 MPH or in the realm of what's considered a "fast jog" or a "slow run." Sound challenging? That pace is pretty easy -- Mike doesn't plan to do much sprinting. But you can ride a bike if you want: You can ride a bike along with Mike on sections marked "Run or bike." Please show up at least 60 minutes at the Hilton so that you can meet Mike and his supporters, sign in, warm up, and get your TV smile on, as you'll probably be on the news. Runs will start on time! Even if you're not starting at the Hilton (like at SeaWorld or at Fashion Valley), please meet at the Hilton to check in first. We'll figure out a way to get you to your start location. Hilton start location is along the bike path immediately behind the resort. You can park anywhere in the Hilton lot and then head for the water. You can't miss the purple tent when you get to the path. Please follow safety instructions while on the course, including obeying traffic signals. We're out here to cure cancer, not get hurt! More than one person can run with Mike on each segment. Get the word out to your running friends, family, and colleagues and have them donate and run too! You don't have to run/bike all 6 miles or run all 7 miles, but it makes the logistics easier if you do. Please don't wear a GPS. Official distance-checkers will be on the course. Even a difference as small as a few hundredths of a mile between your Garmin and the official could really mess things up. Come by anytime and cheer Mike along! Trust us, after he sees Fiesta Island for the 50th time, he's going to enjoy your enthusiasm. And, of course, you don't have to run or bike to support the cause -- please donate generously regardless! Map of start and end locations
